Pavaclad, NBT’s high performance woodfibre board insulation system has been certified by BBA, the UK’s major approval body for new construction products. The approval guarantees Pavaclad’s compliance to Building Regulations and longevity of in-use performance. This is the second NBT system to receive BBA certification, with NBT’s Pavaroof receiving the independent accreditation in 2007.
The BBA certificate has been awarded following a comprehensive assessment process involving rigorous laboratory testing, on-site evaluations and inspections of manufacturing processes to ensure the product meets all regulatory requirements. As with all products, BBA will continue to monitor the manufacture of Pavaclad throughout the five-year validity of the Agrément certificate.
The assessment also acts as a resource to specifiers looking for further information on the specific performance characteristics of Pavaclad. BBA aims to provide evidence of a product’s durability and to ensure the specification of the product can be consistently maintained. BBA’s commitment to achieving the highest levels of accuracy in its assessment procedures is supported through its accreditation by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
The Pavaclad system significantly reduces the potential risk of damp and provides a high level of thermal insulation to buildings as well as substantially eliminating cold bridging. In addition, the high density and specific heat capacity of the Pavaclad system adds to the existing thermal mass of the property to reduce the risk of summer overheating. As well as being suitable for new build developments, the system can also be used to bring existing buildings up-to-date in accordance to Building Regulations and can be fitted to any type of exterior frame.
The Pavaclad system can be finished in a range of cladding materials, increasing the opportunity to upgrade the external appearance of the property, helping to create a building that is aesthetically pleasing, energy efficient and environmentally sound.
Pavaclad has demonstrated the highest levels of thermal and acoustic performance within the construction sector and, as with all NBT products, has excellent sustainability credentials. It is manufactured from 99% recycled waste timber, is fully breathable and improves air-tightness to create a healthy internal environment whilst also protecting the fabric of the building.
