Renovation Systems - Solid Wall Insulation

The nature of many NBT products means they are ideal for renovation of older property to high standards. Many of our products were first used in the UK by builders seeking suitable products for use on historic buildings or renovations.

All our products are vapour open and hygroscopic - assisting with control of damp problems. Our products are flexible and adaptable in use - particularly important where older buildings are being adapted for modern use. NBT offer support in the form of advice, U-Value calculations and interstitial condensation checks.

On hard to treat properties, insulation of the roof and walls often has a better payback than installation of high performance glazing according to the Energy Saving Trust. In Germany, financial and technical support is available to householders wishing to upgrade older buildings to modern performance standards. On older buildings, it makes environmental and financial sense to insulate first, and reach for eco-technologies later.

Pavawall

Building Schools for the Future (BSF)

NBT Pavawall system is an internal insulation system for external walls. The Pavawall system is a breathing wall solution, using unique Pavadentro boards or the more basic Pavatherm boards.

Not only are all components vapour open, but the hygroscopic and capillary open qualities of the materials enables a more robust, and safer control of interstitial and internal moisture, thus protecting building fabric and human health.

The Pavawall system uses a variety of wood fibre board types and thicknesses and provides a lime or clay plastered internal finish.

Using internal insulation on older buildings is very effective in reducing heat loss - combined with other energy reduction strategies (draught proofing, glazing performance etc) it is possible to significantly reduce heat loss.

System Application

The NBT Pavawall system is used predominately on older buildings - on new constructions it is usual that external or solid wall insulation is higher performing and cost effective. Not every external wall is suitable for the NBT Pavawall system. Walls should be dry with capillary and vapour open masonry, for example standard 9" Victorian brick walls above ground. For all applications a calculation and recommendation will be made by your local NBT representative - please contact us.

Pavaroof

Our Pavaroof systems offers many benefits in older properties, predominately in protecting older structures from damp and in noise reduction. One of the main benefits is also in protection from summer overheating - a real problem with many low thermal mass insulations. On average and attic room using Pavaroof will be 4*c cooler in summer than a roof insulated purely with a lightweight foam board product.

For more information on Pavaroof, please visit the appropriate page. Please note that the Pavadentro or Pavatherm boards can be used internally - as they are in Pavawall - without the need to strip and re-cover the roof.
