Natural Building Technologies has announced the appointment of Olin Bartlomé as Technical Manager. With extensive experience across a range of building products, Olin has relocated from Pavatex in Switzerland to take up the role at the company's Buckinghamshire base
Olin joins NBT from their key partner, Pavatex, the leading European manufacturer of sustainable woodfibre insulation boards, where he worked for two and a half years as project leader in Switzerland. This experience is particularly advantageous to NBT, which supplies Pavatex products to the UK market.
Olin trained as a cabinet-maker, before studying building physics, construction and industrial design in Switzerland and Spain. He subsequently undertook research projects in Spain and New Zealand, looking at alternatives to tropical hardwoods and developing natural fibre composites.
Olin Bartlomé, Technical Manager of NBT, comments: 'I was looking for a new challenge to take my career to the next level. Working at NBT gives me the opportunity to work with a broader range of products and has enabled me to expand my existing expertise by developing my knowledge of the UK construction industry.'
As Technical Manager, Olin will take responsibility for the continuing technical development of the NBT range of woodfibre boards, Thermoplan blocks, render, plaster and insulation systems as well as overseeing quality control and certification issues for the business. He will also strengthen the technical and on-site support given to specifiers and contractors using the NBT range of eco-friendly solutions for a sustainable building envelope. Most recently, Olin was responsible for the development and introduction of the Pavadentro board for internal insulation of external walls in conservation and refurbishment projects.
Neil May, Managing Director of NBT, concludes: "Olin's appointment follows a very successful introduction to our business during which he has shown great skill and knowledge. His expertise in the sourcing and manufacture of natural and sustainable building products will prove to be a valuable asset to the company."
